Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been an Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for over 20 years. She's co-founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global, as well being the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is a writer and philanthropist as well as a television host and owner of the independently open online newsmagazine The Huffington Post. Following her move into England from Greece at 16 and obtaining an MA in Economics at Cambridge University. Being the first non-English-speaking student to graduate, she was elected President of The Cambridge Union' at the age of 21. A conservative syndicated blogger following her graduation, she went on to become the voice of Huffington Post. Her fame led to the recruitment of a number of famous contributors who shared their opinions on the news, politics and culture. Arianna became famous after she made the decision in 2003 to stand as an independent Candidate in the California Recall Election in order to succeed the former governor Davis. The project she headed was the Detroit automobile project that was fuel efficient. Forbes placed her at 12 on their list of the Top influential women in the media. Guardian also included the Huffington Post on their list of the top 100 in 2010. In 2011, AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post and made her president of that media unit, which comprised of many then-existing AOL products, such as Engadget AOL music Style list and Patch Media. Elli Stasinopoulos was a daughter of Konstantinos the manager's advisor as well as journalist. Though she was close to her father it was her relationship with her mother which shaped her entire life. She displayed leadership qualities throughout her childhood. She moved to England at 16 to continue her education and was accepted into Girton College Cambridge. During her college days she joined the debating group Cambridge Union where she became the first foreign and third female president. In 1972, her master's in Economics was conferred. In the years following her degree she worked as a journalist-critic and TV host. Her appearance on Face the music with Bernard Levin was also noteworthy. She started writing books with his guidance to edit.
